Wat Chue Chang is another beautiful and very unseen place located in the city of Hat Yai. The architecture that we will see here is special and unlike anywhere else. Anyone who wants to come and see it, feel free to visit!
Wat Chue Chang : History
This is a temple under the Chinese Buddhist Association of Thailand, located on Suphasarangsarn Road in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province. It is considered a highly respected place for the people of Hat Yai, which has led to the spread of the teachings of Buddhism to neighboring countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.

This temple is called “Chie Xiang Yi” in Chinese, which translates to “Temple of Compassion” in Thai. In the past, it was just a small shrine. Inside, there is the statue of the deity Luo Zhou as the main figure. It was built around 1936 by Mr. Keng Tang, whose surname was Lao, a Chinese merchant who came to do business in Hat Yai.

The beauty of Wat Chue Chang is in the building’s design, which blends Thai, Chinese, and Tibetan art together. The patterns on the tile walls are very beautiful and unique. It can be said that anyone who walks through the Chue Chang area must stop by to see it. Inside, there are statues of Guan Yu, the Goddess of Mercy with a thousand hands, and the Buddha in the “Phang Ham Yat” posture, which visitors can pay respects to for blessings and good fortune.

Included in this is the Chue Chang area, which is famous for its food in Hat Yai. After visiting the temple, you can walk around and taste the delicious food in this area. If you visit Songkhla, you can also stop by and pay respects at a Chinese-style temple like this. I can say it’s very rare to find this, so it’s considered a beautiful unseen spot of Hat Yai.
